So I stopped trying to ask for referrals and started finding ways to  earn  them. 

 

That's when I read "How to Sell Anything to Anybody" by Joe Girard, the Guinness World Record holder for most cars sold in a single year and most cars sold over a lifetime. 

His secret to selling over 13,000 cars in 15 years? 

 

 Handwritten cards. 

 

Every month, he mailed thousands of cards to past clients. 

 

It hit me... If cards helped Joe become the BEST IN THE WORLD, why couldn't they work for me? 

So I tried it. I started by mailing 83 cards each month to friends and past clients. Within 6 months, my business was up 28%.

 

People I hadn't spoken to in years were texting me photos of my cards on their fridge or desk. They were calling out of the blue to thank me for the card, to catch up, or to tell me they'd passed my name along to someone ready to buy or sell...

 

So I doubled down, then tripled down. Eventually, I was sending 250 cards every month. 

 

Within 18 months, my business had grown by 57%.
